The Tallahassee National Weather Service conducted a conference call today with Southwest Georgia EMA Directors to review their forecast of this evening weather. Their forecast for tonight remains the same with a moderate risk of a severe weather event for this afternoon and evening across portions of Southwest Georgia.
- A squall line with scattered thunderstorms is expected to develop to our west and will move into Southwest Georgia overnight.
- The main threats from these storms are damaging straight line wind gusts up to 70 mph and isolated tornadoes. A few of the storms could produce large hail.
- Albany-Dougherty County citizens are recommended to prepare for the event and follow TV and radio weather reports.
EMA personnel will be in the office throughout the evening monitoring the situation.
